Practice Night

We practice every Thursday throughout the year . We meet just before 8pm and ring till 9pm. Not everyone comes each week and some only come for half an hour. It is entirely up to the individual. However, when you are learning it is fairly important that you do come regularly. We will also endeavour to give learners extra time before the practice to help them move on quickly. After the practice session is over we usually move to the Griffin Inn for a drink.

Would you like to join our band?

We are always looking for people to join our band. The Swithland team is a very friendly group of people and we have a lot of fun . We are certainly not the most capable group of ringers and do not take ringing as seriously as some bands but we enjoy our ringing and have been together for a number of years. Anyone joining us will be guaranteed a warm welcome. We would welcome anyone from children of 11 years to 70 year olds.
Firstly you do not have to live in the village or be a practicing member of the church, and at no time will you be pressured to join in with church services. Unlike other hobbies and pastimes bell ringing is FREE. Ringers come from all walks of life. You don't have to be strong to ring bells but ringing does offer plenty of healthy exercise. Many people take up ringing when their children are older or when they retire. Many couples take up the hobby together. Ringing is a challenging hobby. It is not complicated and does not require any musical ability. It does, however, take time to master but we give new ringers plenty of training and existing ringers are extremely patient towards new learners. What we do ask of new ringers is commitment and to be a team member, to come to practice each week and to be available to ring for half an hour for morning service once a fortnight. Ringing offers an enjoyable pastime with lots of fun and laughs and an opportunity to meet and make new friends
